Structural Shifts and State Ambitions: Drivers of India-Australia Relations


Few bilateral relationships have advanced in the last decade as significantly as the India-Australia partnership. Traditionally, these two states were not viewed as close partners; in the past, the relationship was often reduced to the 3 Cs—Curry, Cricket, and the Commonwealth. Cut to the present: India and Australia are negotiating a Comprehensive Economic Cooperation Agreement (CECA) that extends beyond commodities into services and investment.
