Asian Confluence (AC) jointly with the ASEAN-India Centre (AIC) at RIS organised a webinar titled “20 Years of Mekong-Ganga Cooperation (MGC)” through online video conferencing on 28 May 2020. Panelists were from prominent think-tanks, business chambers of Mekong region. About 40 participants attended, viewed the webinar discussion and took part in the Q&A session. Ambassador Gautam Mukhopadhyay, Senior Visiting Fellow, Centre for Policy Research (CPR), New Delhi delivered the Special Remarks and Chaired the webinar. Mr Sabyasachi Dutta, Director of Asian Confluence gave the Welcome Remarks. Dr Prabir De, Professor, RIS and Head, ASEAN-India Centre (AIC) made the lead presentation. Mr Sabyasachi Dutta extended the Vote of Thanks at the end. The major recommendations are as follows: 20 Years of Mekong-Ganga Cooperation (MGC) Amb. Mukhopadhyay raised three pertinent issues that he expected the panelist to address such as what MGC can do in this pandemic era in Post-Covid-19 areas of cooperation; what are the progress achieved by MGC in last two decades; and what are the new businesses and opportunities between India and Mekong countries in this emerging scenario and how to unlock such potentials in the global new order.
