Rebecca Gould, Head of Arts (Wales), British Council

Appointed in January 2015, Rebecca joined the British Council from the Soho Theatre, London where she was Creative Producer. She is the current Chair of Theatre Iolo. She is also an Education Associate artist for the Royal Shakespeare Company. She is also involved with Cardiff’s Open Air Theatre Festival produced by Everyman Theatre in Sophia Gardens; where she directed three Shakespeare plays A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Taming of the Shrew and As You Like It. Previously she was Associate Director at the Theatre Royal Plymouth, Young People’s Project Director at the National Theatre, where she directed the ‘Little Tempest’ and 'The Wonderful Life and Miserable Death of Renowned Magician Dr Faustus’ in the Cottesloe Theatre. Director of the Education Company at the English Shakespeare Company and Associate Director at the Made in Wales Stage Company. Rebecca was Co- Founder and Director of Tinderbox Alley and Theatre Science which work close with the Wellcome Trust to foster a wider awareness through theatre of advances in biomedicine.
