Picasso Pupils International Art Community and Shillong Public School in collaboration with Department of Arts and Culture, Govt. of Meghalaya, organised a four day art exhibition in association with Asian Confluence, Shillong. The exhibition was organised as a step to promote and portray the indigenous cultures and traditions of North East India, especially Meghalaya, with the help of art.
The exhibition was a culmination of a series of collaborative workshops between painters and digital artists from North East India, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Nepal, Hungary, Slovakia and Czech Republic as part of a one month Art residency programme. The workshops were held in the scenic locales of Meghalaya where professional artists from Europe interacted with the local artists and people from East Khasi Hills promoting awareness of the fragile ecology of the region.
A lot of people turned up for the programme and witnessed the rich cultural experience. It was like looking at your own culture through the lenses of a foreigner. The entire experience made the local spectators appreciate their culture and heritage a little more.
