Mrs. Sanchita Bhattacharjee, a renowned Odissi dancer and dance exponent, recited a cultural evening on the “Odissi Dance”, which was organized by Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), Shillong in collaboration with Asian Confluence, Shillong. The event was organized as an initiative to promote and celebrate indigenous dance forms and culture of India.
The performance was accompanied and performed by Santoor exponent Pandit Tarun Bhattacharjee along with Mr. Madhurya Borthakur on the Tabla who played and matched the rhythm of Ms. Sanchita Bhattacharjee, and enthralled the distinguished audience with their performance.
Present during the cultural evening amongst the distinguished guests were Shri. N. Munish Singh, Regional Officer, ICCR; Prof. KeyaSengupta, Director, Rajiv Gandhi Indian Institute of Management; Shri. K. War former CE, PHE; Shri. SK Jain, IPS, Addl. DGP, Meghalaya Police; Dr BB Dutta, Ex-MP; Dr BDR Tiwari Commissioner & Secretary, Government of Meghalaya, and many others.
The cultural event was followed by an interactive session with the audience and Mrs. Sanchita Bhattacharjee, who spoke at length about the Odissi dance forms and some dancing tips to the enthusiasts.
