An Interaction Between Theatre Artists Of Meghalaya And Bangladesh

A one day interaction between theatre artists from Meghalaya, India and Bangladesh was hosted by Asian Confluence in collaboration with BotTala (A theatre Group from Bangladesh). The event was organised as an initiative to foster people to people interaction across borders.

In all, around 50 invited representatives from Bangladesh and Meghalaya attended the event. Theatrical plays showcasing various themes on issues of social importance from various theatre groups from Bangladesh and Meghalaya was enacted as part of the event. Interaction between the participants of the various theatre groups was the main attraction. The performer’s passionately nuanced and graceful style of plays kept the audience spellbound till the very end. While BotTala represented Bangladesh, India was represented by four Groups from Meghalaya. The groups that represented India were SBUK which is the abbreviated form of Seng Biria U Khasi led by Mr. Leslie Harding Pde, KDUR which is the abbreviated form of Kam Danda U Rangdajied led by Mr. Phira Rani, Kyrchanlang Theatrical Group and the Panaliar – Locality Theatre Group, both from Jowai.

The event was flanked by eminent personalities from the state of Meghalaya as well as Bangladesh. By the end of the interaction, the language of art had won over and both sides left with new friends across their respective borders, who speak the language of the heart.
