“Rigidity Of Identity” – A Talk By Shri Toki Blah

Date:   Fri Aug 07, 2015 - Fri Aug 07, 2015
Location:   Asian Confluence Centre, Shillong , Hosts:   Asian Confluence

Asian Confluence organised a dialogue on "Rigidity of Identity", led by a retired IAS and social activist Shri Toki Blah. Mr Blah is a famous personality of great intelligence who is also regarded as a “mover and shaker” by many.

Shri Toki Blah highlighted the issue of identity conflicts across the globe which is one of the major impediments to global and national unity in a globalised world. He touched upon India’s multi-cultural, multi religious and multi ethnic society which is almost taken for granted and communities seem to contend among themselves despite the country’s inherent unity built around basic human values. He also focussed on the turmoil associated with India’s North Eastern states and deliberated on identity issues and conflicts to find a way out of the imbroglio. The audience engaged in a lively discussion over identity and conflict as the evening concluded on a thought provoking note.
