A talk on “Cultivating Entrepreneurship” by Mr. Vijay Mahajan, founder and CEO of the BASIX Social Enterprise Group was organized and hosted at the Asian Confluence Center Shillong, with an objective to provide a platform for young aspiring students from colleges in Shillong to understand the various new career options of the 21st Century.
Basix Social Enterprise Group, an organization working for the underprivileged, has promoted livelihoods to over 2 million poor households. During the interactive session Mr. Vijay Mahajan urged and spoke words of encouragement to the students to develop skills on social entrepreneurship which is one of the most important requirement and lucrative professions in today’s world. He also stressed on the use of technology in developing projects and emphasised on the need for overall cross disciplinary development. The young participants had a fruitful interaction with spokesperson, which was an eye opener for many of the students pursuing the field of social entrepreneurship.
Present also during the event was the Director of Asian Confluence, Mr. Sabyasachi Dutta who expressed his concerns and the aim of having and organizing such events and series of talks to promote and provide a common place for the students or young people to have interactions and discussions with eminent personalities and enabling them to get a holistic views across various issues and sectors that will benefit the youths and students in connecting with the world outside of this state and region as a whole.
